If you do some research about nutrition and diet it is impossible not to encounter the “food pyramids”. Two of the most famous are the Mediterranean food pyramid and the USDA food pyramid. As time passed and I researched more about nutrition and exercise I realized that these food pyramids have some mistakes and imbalances. For example if you just follow the Mediterranean diet and at the same time you want to have the benefits of anaerobic exercise (like increased muscle mass, metabolism and energy) then you will consume a lot less protein than you need resulting to total failure.

Of course those food pyramids are still based on scientific research and it is healthy to follow them but if you want to go one level forward then you need to make some changes.  So I have used them as fundamentals and I have build upon them and created an improved version that includes more health factors.

I always believed that one image equals one thousand words. So I have decided to create the “Dietuni health mind map” based on my knowledge and experimentation over the years of what works and what doesn’t:

As you can see I have included here the most important factors in my opinion that will help you to build a healthy and beautiful body.

I found out the hard way that diet, exercise, rest and some healthy habits are all it takes to completely transform your life. In the mind map above you can see all that factors that are complementary to each other. You can expect to do proper exercise if you didn’t rest the night before at least 8 hours. Also you can’t expect to rest 8-9 hours if you drunk five bottles of beer before sleep and believe me in order to lose weight and add muscle you absolutely have to sleep well and exercise.

Of course, you can see that diet plays a huge role (probably the most important one) in this lifestyle. If you need to lose weight you must have the appropriate diet. If you need to exercise and add muscle mass you need the right diet. If you want to be healthy and avoid diseases and health problems again you need the diet plan that will support your body’s efforts to survive and thrive.
